Oh, not too far away then! I used to drive through the Dells a lot. I am originally from the Eau Claire area and used to live in Chicago. We'd drive I-94 home and back all the time!

Yeah, I read the January Bandsters thread and we're all going through the same thing... "how can you eat so little calories and not lose weight??" People are getting depressed and everything! I guess that's why they call this period "bandster hell!" I know the weight will come off, just have to heal up sufficiently first and be patient!

Welcome! I've had my band almost 3 weeks now. So far, so good! Where are you getting banded? Who is your surgeon?

I'm just over 2 weeks out and I'm a little scared.

I'm flying into Monterrey, Mexico and getting my surgery with Dr. Arturo Rodruguez. I've heard many good things about him and his staff - I'm also meeting up there with two other girls that are getting their surgery at the same time - 1 the day before and 1 the day after.

I'm very excited!!

How long did the pain last after your surgery?

Those two weeks will fly by. I, too was a little scared and aprehensive. I just kept thinking of all the positve changes in my life this band could make and that kept me going!

I really had a great banding experience. Everyone is different, but I had very little pain, if any. It was more of a discomfort in your abs, kind of like doing a bunch of crunches. I only really felt it when I rolled around in bed, or tried to stand up. That only lasted a day or two. Otherwise, it was pretty much business as usual. I was also just very aware of my incisions for a few days, 'cause the bandages kind of rubbed against your clothes. :D

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
