I am having my sleeve done Jul.y 17th and I couldn't be any happier. My bmi is 40. I am 5'7 and 259ish pounds. I have never thought of myself as way too big I just knew that i was over weight and needed to do something. Well last night I had my most embarrassing moment and my big wake up call. I went to ride the scrambler and they could barley get the safety gate to latch because I was so big. I wanted to cry. I wanted to get off that ride and run away. But i didn't I stayed there with this bar pressing so hard against me I could barely breath. My boyfriend was looking at me and I could tell he knew what was going on. These two little skinny girls were sitting across from me just staring I knew what was going through there mind. I have always went to clothing stores and had size issues and booths at restaurants not being able to fit. But never like this.

But on the plus side. I posted that I was having wls on Facebook because I am proud I'm changing my life. I seen some of my friends at the fair that seen my posting. They were all excited and wished me luck. It is so nice knowing that I have so much more support than I ever really knew. So my most embarrassing day did have some perks. It was bitter sweet.

Like I said my surgery is July 17th. Since July is the month that we won our independence so many years ago I think that it is kind of a coincidence that I am celebrating my independence as well. Independence from that fat strings that have weighed me down for so long. I am ready to be the new me.

AND You can bet my big a$$ that this time next year I will be riding those rides and I will fit with out any issues and Im ganna ride then till I get sick !!!!!

Happy Independence Everyone

I'm so sorry. I think we all know that feeling. I remember the first time I was on an airplane and couldn't buckle the seatbelt. The embarrassment was horrible. Just remember, its easy to live with your weight, but it takes a lot of hard work and bravery to change it. You should be proud of yourself that you are making the changes to make a healthier you.

Happy Independence Day to you! I'm approximately the same height as you and started within just a few pounds as well. It's so nice, even a few months post-op, to know I "fit" places better. It's fantastic that you've been able to get some support from friends; it's amazing to have the support of those you care about and you know they really care about you, too.

Good luck! Surgery day will be here before you know it.

~Kat

I had a similar experience in Hershey Park. I was too big to ride the roller coaster with my niece. I am so sorry. I am having mine around Aug. 15. Best of luck to you

I had the same issue last summer at canobie lake park and it was the oldest ride there. U can't even enjoy the ride! My grandmother always said hold your head up to the sky... You'll be able to get on that ride soon

Doesn't it seem like at the restaurant they try to make us sit in the smallest booths. Seems like i walk past at least 100 empty tables to a small dark booth in a corner somewhere then they point in slow motion and wait for the show! I always say table to avoid the awkwardness.

My most embarrassing moment was shortly after i scheduled my first appointment with the surgeon. I took my parents out to eat at pizza Hut during the noon buffet and the place was packed. I was finished eating and just sitting in my chair and suddenly it collapsed and I fell backwards hitting my head against the wall hard. I was so embarrassed and a few people rushed to help me up but I insisted they let me do it myself. Normally, it would have been difficult but due to the adrenaline rush, I got up pretty well. I just wanted to get out of there so I went straight to pay so I could. The management would not let me or my parents pay. I just said thanks and we left. It definitely made me even more determined to get through my pre-op hoops and have surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
