curious where other ppl are at around 3.5 mths out

Recommended Posts

I'm not quite 3.5 months post-op, with my surgery on 3/28. I've lost 50 lbs, approx 10 inches in my waist and 8 inches in my hips. I'm down from a size 22/20 to a comfortable 16.

I haven't really struggled with Fluid intake and only occasionally with Protein intake. When I'm at home, Protein isn't an issue. I was on vacation for almost a week last week and totally slacked on my protein. The good news was that I didn't really eat anything I shouldn't, just didn't keep up with my protein. Next time, I'll be taking my hand blender or a mini blender...I've gotten spoiled to a texture of Protein shake and I have a hard time getting it down, otherwise. I ate chicken and fish, but not often enough because everyone else had their own things they wanted to eat..pizza, buffets, etc. I just chose to not eat rather than eat what everyone else was. My choice, but I'll prepare better next time.

What I can eat depends on what it is. For example, I can eat much more seafood than I can chicken or beef. I can eat close to 6 oz of shrimp or salmon but struggle to get more than 3 oz of chicken in at a time.

I try to stick to 3 meals and one snack per day. It seems to be what I'm comfortable with and scheduling it out keeps me on track.

I wish I was losing a little faster (I'm averaging about 4 lbs a week) but I don't feel like I'm doing poorly.

Did you hit a the typical stall around week 3 or 4? I promised myself I wouldn't complain about the 3 week stall but I'd love to see the scale move again. Just wondering how long it lasted if you did encounter it.

I'm 6 wks out and at a stall now. Sorry just saw ur post. It can be frustrating.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
