Sooo ready for the sleeve!

Recommended Posts

I am very much pre-op, but I wish I could just have the surgery tomorrow! I have met with the surgeon and I am getting all my other appts set up. I am hoping to have the surgery in late August or early September.

This evening my husband said, Hey, how about we go to the Chinese buffet one last time. I thought, sounds good! We really don't go to the buffet often at all, so this really would be the last time for me. Of course, at the buffet I ate "all I can eat." After we are we were waking around the mall and I just felt disgusting. I felt horribly fat, full, and gross. Makes me wonder why I ever do that to myself. It just makes me feel horrible about myself. I am supposed to lose 5-10 lbs before surgery. I even weighed in at weight watchers this morning and was down 1 lb, which I am sure I negated then some at dinner. I know I can do this. I feel that the sleeve will give me the physical restriction when my mental restriction fails me. Otherwise I will stay in my roller coaster of losing and gaining weight. I know that the sleeve is the right thing for me. I am ready to start my journey, just hope my insurance company feels the same way.

I like to refer to the sleeve as my "forced behavior modification." I can deal with head hunger, but when legitimately hungry will choose not-so-healthy foods...and eat a truckload of them. Ergo...fat.

That's changing now :) Keep your chin up - it will be here before you know it!

Like you Im sooooo ready!!!! For my insurance I have to do a 6 month program thru a Center of Excellance....I started in January my programs required monthly doctor visits, 2 support meetings, 3 nutrition classes, surgical class, of couse all the labs and ekg, psych visit and lose 10% of my body weight (30 lbs) well its now 6 months later I have finished everything except for my Psych Appt which is July 8 so hoping to have surgery by August or Sept.

Dont beat yourself up to much for having a few "last meals" I think pretty much everyone goes through that, I know I have had more than a few the past 6 months. You will do great and before you know it you will be on the other side!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
