Ladies has anyone of you had problems with your period before surgery

Recommended Posts

I haven't had a period for over one year. I have gained weight and maybe that's the reason. I just wanted to know has anyone has this problem and has it been better after other sleeve surgery

Have you been checked for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)? Lack of periods and weight gain are symptoms.

It's very difficult to get pregnant with PCOS, but not impossible. WLS improves the condition, but won't cure it.

I'm having surgery on the 24 and my md is hoping the weight loss will help my periods as well!

Losing weight will probably help your periods become more regular - I have lost 80 pounds since last summer, and mine are starting to come back. I hadn't had a period on my own for maybe 4-5 years. (But per my doctor, I was taking some progesterone every few months to induce a period, since it is supposedly not safe for the uterine lining to build up too much. You might want to check with your doc on that.)

Even if you do have PCOS, you should still be able to have children, you just might need a little extra help. My periods had stopped by the time we were ready for child #2, so I went to a fertility specialist. He diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on Clomid (a monthly pill to make you ovulate). I was pregnant within a couple of months.

Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
