curious how people are eating...

Recommended Posts

I'm really sort of ashamed of how I ate post lapband removal. I went wild. Anything and everything I could get my hands on went in my mouth. I ended up over 300 pounds proir to having my sleeve. I'm doing well now but I had a lot of issues with food post lapband because I had been so sick all the time that when suddenly I could eat without immediate consequence I did. DO NOT DO THIS. I was 275 at the time of my removal, I gained over 25 pounds. If I hadn't gained that weight I would be closer to 200 pounds right now, not 239. You only set yourself back.

Hi NurseGrace,

You're on the right track now and I bet you look fantastic! I'm doing my best. A week and a half after surgery I started drinking three Protein drinks a day and one meal at night. I'm doing my best, but it's such a relief to not get sick when eating something. Oh and I can drink Water at night before laying down and not drowned in my sleep.

In fact, my stomach actually growled for the first time in three years. GROWLED. I couldn't believe it.

Thanks to all who responded. just 9 weeks to go...

Angie

Ha! I think I have you all beat! I gained 55 lbs in 6 months. I ate so much bread and stuffed myself until the point where it hurt. When I had my lapband removed, I really didn't plan on getting the sleeve but a couple of months later, I realized I was back into my old habits. I just had my sleeve surgery on Thursday, June 6th and I am hoping this will be a much better experience than my band.

I think anyone who has had the lapband removed would struggle; I know I am. I know you'll emerge victorious!

I can't believe that I am not sick anymore..or don't drown in my sleep if I drink Water after 5pm. What I don't like is feeling hungry...I didn't miss that.

I have about 60 pounds to lose and I'm ready to begin. As soon I am completely healed from the band removal, I am joining my gym again. I tried to workout today, but found out I couldn't when I hurt myself doing a spin kick. Sigh.

I am ready to be a slave to the elipitcal machine again; I miss it, even if it is 150 degrees here in Scottsdale.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
