sipping vs gulping

Does drinking fast actually cause your sleeve harm or does it just hurt? Its 95 degrees here, humid and we have an air quality alert and my effin car's ac decided to break now...now I'm slightly dehydrated, breathing hard and light headed. Can I gulp the water and just suffer the pain?

I kinda gulp and it does not hurt my sleeve at all. If I sipped all day then I would never get any fluids in. I'm in meetings and on the phone all day at work, so sipping just doesnt work.

  • Guess I was just over heated not dehydrated

Look at your watch and try to take a decent sip every minute try to accomplish 8 ounces in 1 hour and that should do it

I know ive been sipping I drank 56 oz so far today but I'm on the verge of dehydration. ..does gulping cause harm

Hey i feel for you its wicked hot here, i dont gulp persay i can now deink quicker than a sip more like a small gulp but i am 17 weeks post op and i can only do it if my tummy is empty, no pains hope tht helps

It could cause vomiting which would dehydrate you more. I asked this same question at my 2 week post op today because summer is here and I am always thirsty now.

Sipping is safer.

Don't chance irritating your new sleeve causing you not to be able to even sip efficiently.

Curios what the Dr. Said?

Sip only, I know cold water sounds refreshing but drinking room temperature liquids sometimes goes easier on the tummy. I ended up in the hospital for 2 days because I was dehydrated. I hope you feel better!

It wasn't about it being refreshing it was because I didn't want to go to hospital

I had my sleeve done may 15th and I can drink pretty big sips. No pain. I only get pain with food. It's weird because I really don't feel anything and not sure if I'm full. I have lost 24 pounds though.
