I bought the Unjury unflavored Protein and added it to Soups. (cream of chicken strained was my favorite). Some people say they can taste the protein, but I couldn't at all.

Okay...I start my two week pre-op diet tomorrow. I can have three Protein shakes and supplement that with clear and full liquids. I need some ideas so I don't lose my mind over the next two weeks! Anyone have any great ideas to manage the liquid diet??? Thx!

I'm on day 8 of my two-week preop diet. The first four days were miserable - in addition to fighting allergies, I had headaches, weakness, and all the other symptoms of being hungry. On the 5th day, I felt like normal again (with hunger pangs every now and then, but not severe at all).

There are people who were allowed to eat anything they wanted up until the last minute before surgery. If you ask me, we're the lucky ones. Imagine waking up from major surgery and how recovery feels at first. Add to that all the symptoms I just described above - aint nobody got time for that!

Get yourself some Isopure (and/or Syntrax Nectar) to supplement your Protein drinks, and/or some Yes whey (not New Whey) bullets. Lastly, get yourself some unflavored Protein (Unjury makes this among others) so that you can add it to your clear and full liquids).

You're gonna do great - hang in there and remember that many of us have been through the two-week diet, you have us to lean on!

My pre op diet was 2 weeks and I could do Clear Liquids only, Protein drinks, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles. I survived with a positive attitude about it I think it made a huge difference. I kept reminding myself this diet is what is going to make recovery easier and I'm loosing weight. however i do Agree the first few days are the hardest but gets easier. The chocolate truffle sintrex nectar was the saving grace those two weeks! It is REALLY good taste like the best chocolate milk! Best of luck and remember this diet is the hardest part and there is and end!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
