I had my op on may 1st. I feel the same way. the last two days I have taken four hour naps. Are you getting heartburn? I don't know if it a lack for Protein? Are you writing down everything you eat? I need to start. God luck!

Yes I did..... I had that happen to me for the first few months..... It will go away and you will regain your stamina.... Hang in there!

I felt the same way at first, your body is recuperating from the surgery. I took 5 weeks off work and when I went back I was exhausted after a few hours. It will get better.

3 months whew!!! I am only 2 weeks out I can't imagine another 10 weeks of this. I try to get enough sleep at night but I have to take naps. I understood the first few days because it was fresh maybe I am rushing. I might need to learn how to chill

I told the doctor the same thing he said not to worry and to take it slow. He also reminded me I just had major surgery. I'm almost 3 weeks post op. The problem I've been having is when I get up or bend over and stand up straight I get dizzy.

At a little over 2 months I feel a whole lot better and nearly normal. I still get tired though. I quit having to take naps 2-3 weeks ago but sometimes I sneak one in anyway. Now I can make it through the biggest part of the day without feeling exhausted but around 3 - 4 in the afternoon I'm tired.

Hang in there. The term "it will get better" probably sounds like a broken record but just like all the things your mother told you - it's true:)

Yea it does! I am just glad to know that it will get better. I keep reminding myself that I had part my stomach removed and 3 days in the hospital. Funny how you forget

I don't know that we forget, but I think real life intrudes. I had plotted out a month to recoup, but the child is going on a trip next week, MIL is sick of take-out and the special training I have been getting for the last 15 months is wrapping up, and if I want to be certified I need to be there.

And we won't talk about those who were in the gym and back to work in 5 days!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
