SELF PAY QUESTION

This is for a family friend of mine, I want to help her. Right now she's rally depressed and when we have a family reunion she's always isolating herself from the rest of my family and anywhere else we go. Last night we had a family party and as I'm in the process for VSG I asked if she ever thought about it. She said she has been looking but didn't know she could do it, I told her she could and she would qualify if she had insurance but she doesn't and unfortunately she can't travel out the USA yet because of her immigration status. She has money to pay out of pocket and she asked me last night to please find out from here, WHAT STATE IS THE CHEAPEST?? I appreciate your help guys!!.

I self payed in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for $12,500. This was in 2010, but I don't think the pricing has changed much since then. Good luck to you both. I hope she can find something affordable and it's nice of you to try to help her out.

Here in south Texas, you're looking at about $8,000-$11,000. However, lots of doctors require pre-operation procedures and consultations; all of which can be costly, especially without insurance. For example, most doctors require an upper endoscopy (or EGD). The cost of that procedure varies from $2k to $10k. The hospital I'm going to charges $6k, but I only pay 10%. So, she must consider those things. A lot of doctors also have credit lines, like Care Credit, that will cover the costs and create a payment plan.

I had mine in Baton Rouge Louisiana by Dr. Drake Bellenger. My cost was 14200, and included everything-his fees, hospital costs, tests, psych eval, nutritional consult(3 visits), one meeting with a trainer. Surgeon follow up for two years. He's one of the top in the country for this surgery.

When I was researching, I found a doctor in dallas for 10,000. His name us Victor Gonzalez. I'm nit sure if that's still his price. I've also heard you can get it done in Vegas for 11,000 but again I researched these a year ago

This is sooo unfortunate.

Currently, in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex you can get all inclusive for anywhere from 11-14K.

I am almost 9 weeks out and my self pay was with a top surgeon in the field (there are MANY top surgeons in the area to choose from.

$12,200 All inclusive including all pre-op, hospital (2 nights) OR and NUT.

The only thing that is not covered is if during the pre-op if they find something wrong, the fix is not covered, obviously. For instance, my EKG came back with an abnormality, I had to go see a Cardiologist and that was not included but I would not have expected that to be.
