How much did/do you have to pay out your pocket for before and after care?

Recommended Posts

When I started this process last month there were two hospitals found weight loss surgery in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

I signed up for seminars at both. I first went to Sentara. The seminar went well and all, but when the woman took us to the page of their before & after care they wanted $1,057 dollars. I questioned it and she said it Must be paid (so she thought).

I went to Bon Secours two days later. They wanted $120 dollars, and that was for 6 1hour personal training sessions.....Shoot! Were can you get a trainer of $20 dollars an hour?

I was wondering what was the out of pocket price I'm other areas?

There is a 200 program fee in waterloo, ia, and that covers random stuff like a newsletter, and who knows what else... No personal training, though.

Program Fee

We at the Midwest Institute of Advanced Laparoscopic SurgeryTM are dedicated to your success. Education is a vital component in reaching your goals. The education process begins with the information seminar, in person or on-line, and is continued through the evaluation, pre-operative work-up, hospitalization and during your lifetime follow-up.

Our multidisciplinary program provides the following to meet this important element:

• Monthly support groups

• Nutritional guidelines

Vitamin supplement requirements

• Quarterly newsletters

• Dietary modifications

• On-going communication with your primary care physician

The program fee of $200 can be paid with cash, cashier’s check or credit card. The first half of the payment is due at the time of your consultation appointment and the remaining $100 is due at your final pre-operative appointment. This fee is not covered by insurance and is non-refundable.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
