Gummy Vitamins?

I can't take my Vitamins. They make me sick, like close to puking sick - and that is just chewing them up without swallowing. Disgusting.

Problem is that I cannot have iodine in any of my vitamins, because I'm allergic to it (and also to fish/shellfish), so I'm very limited on a Multivitamin. Given the fact that I'm supposed to take nothing but chewables, I'm even more screwed. I researched all the Vitamin sites for weeks on end, and all I found that I could take was Bellybar Prenatal Vitamins. And, seeing as they make me sick, now those are out.

Looks like it is going to have to be gummy or nothing. I'm so annoyed that they make tons of gummy vitamins without iodine but, like, no chewables at all.

Do you take gummy vitamins? I know a lot of NUTs don't approve of them, as they're not "complete." I can supplement with additional vitamins to make my vitamins complete, though. I'm not worried about that. It just looks like, at this point, it's going to have to be gummy or nothing. Bah. E-mailing my nutritionist but just wanted to see if anyone here takes gummies.

I went a week without taking my multi. Ar first I was doing flint stones but could not tolerate the sweet chalkiness. I decided to switch to a pill cut in quarters but when I tried to swallow I felt as though they were going to get stuck in my throat ( scary). I finally took the gummy multi yesterday and had no problems. I'm thinking the gummy is better than nothing.

Evidently Country Life makes a gluten free, iodine free chewable. It is available @ vitamin shoppe and gnc to name a few. I haven't tried them myself, but someone mentioned them at support group.

They may not be complete' date=' but it's better than nothing at all, right? And, if your labs come back off, you can always add in a separate Vitamin of whatever you're lacking. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Heck, I'll even stick those gummy vites in my Magic Bullet and pulverize the heck out of them. Shouldn't be a problem then. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I have a facebook group for March, April, and May 2013 sleevers. It's an awesome support group! If you'd like to join (I saw you're scheduled for the beginning of May), you're more than welcomed to. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Those are some of the ones I was looking at! Thanks for the photo. I'll definitely keep them in mind. I don't understand if surgeons approve the Calcium chews (like the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites and calcium chews) why gummy Multivitamins are such a big deal.[/quote']

Most gummy Vitamins are not sugar free which is the original concern more than that they are harder to digest. It's not as critical with a sleeve either as it is with RNY. But speaking of Bariatric Advantage, they do have Vitamin Crystals that you mix with Water and drink like crystal light. Might be a good alternative for those who can't tolerate chewables. They do not have iodine either.

I would love for you to come! Can you send me your e-mail address for facebook and I'll send you an invitation?

That is cool. I've been taking the capsules this week. I am not too sure about them. You have to take 3 one in the am, afternoon, and the pm. Well I take all 3 while eating a meal. It's so much easier that way at least for me. The crystals sound interesting.
