Gained 8 pounds in two weeks! WTH?

Recommended Posts

Not sure what is going on...but my weight is creeping up every few days...I am one year out and recently decreased my caloric intake. I have NEVER had this happen before. The most I have gained is 3 pounds. it would be an up and down game for about a week and then lose it. .but now up up up! How is that much weight gain possible? I haven't really been doing alot of exercise...never have. Getting so FRUSTRATED!

Ugh, that has to be frustrating! Have you tried bumping your calories, Protein, and Water intake back up? Maybe you could add some walking?

I do actually walk about 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week and do a workout video for about 30 minutes every other day....It is hard to increase Protein because I can still only eat about 2 to 3 ounces at the MOST at one time. I guess I will have to start Protein Shakes again ...sigh :)

My clothes are tighter. My waist was 32" weeks ago...this morning it is a little over 33"! .... My feet are also swollen a little. Something seems so wrong!

As a RN, am concerned about your swollen feet. That isn't normal. You could have Fluid retention, it is easy to gain 5 pounds of fluid, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. In the mean time elevate your legs above your heart for a couple hours a day to help facilitate the movement of fluid. Do you take meds for your blood pressure?

I agree with Sleeve of Steel! As an RN this is something you definately want to get checked right away. You could be retaining fluid in your abdomen as well and that is why your waist size is increasing. 8 pounds in 2 weeks is definately a red flag. Keep us posted!

I read here somewhere a similar story, and it turned out the lady's thyroid had just all the sudden stopped. Might want to get some blood work done.

Thanks guys! My doctor is on vacation until Monday. If I gain anymore prior to her return, I am going to the ER. I forgot to mention I am having pain on my right side right under my rib cage when I take deep breaths and can feel it whenever I eat. It's tender to the touch and feels a little warm. I had a HIDA scan to check my gallbladder a few months ago and all was fine..... Would gallbladder issues cause weight gain and swelling? We will see I guess.

How are you today??? I just saw your above post...I say go to another doctor TODAY. No sense in waiting until your Doc returned Monday. What you are describing are reason to be concerned to me. don't wait!!! Maybe it's nothing and we can all laugh with you about it, but to me those symptoms don't sound like 'nothing'. Swelling, rapid weight gain, pain under a rib cage, tenderness and warmth don't sound like no big deal type of symptoms. Please go get it checked out TODAY!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
