Burping and gurgling everytime I drink

Im just under my two weeks post op. I have noticed over the last week as I have started to feel better, and be able to get more of my liquid in that specifically when I am drinking a protein drink or milk (and sometimes with just the water) I burp, and get a gurgling noise in my throat. Its distracting when in a quiet room or during a prayer in church. I have been taking gas-x and the burping isn't loud it is the gurgling that can be overheard. I do not use straws, and try to drink slowly, but I can't seem to make it stop. I have my 2 week post op appointment on Wednesday and plan to ask my surgeon, but I wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone else had experienced this issue.

Yes, this is normal. It continued for me until about 2 months post op. my sleeve was a talker. Drink slower, this will help. I would like to say that your stomach will sound normal again...however mine still makes some really loud noises if I get to hungry. Doesn't make them when I drink anymore though. Nobody has ever said to me, um what the heck was that though...I just usually laugh and say...wow, I am really hungry. Good luck.

Okay great thanks! Im glad to hear from someone who is further out that has had the issue. I haven't had really any issues so far so if this is the worst of it I think I can handle it. My husband and sisters have heard my throat do it, and they just laugh so they they are really supportive.

I was sleeved on the 3/25 and the gurgling has already subsided quite a bit. It kind of had me freaked out for a while but I'm glad it's calmed down already!

I agree if this is the worst problem I think I will live =) but its still good to know its normal.

I'm 3 months out and really the only time mine does it now is when I eat Soup. So weird! Not with Water or anything else I drink or eat, just soup! :P

Soup gets my tummy talking too! I thought it may be that I am swallowing air along with the soup. The constant gurgling has for the most part subsided though. I was sleeved 12/19/12
