So I am over 5 months out, and have lost 76 lbs, which I'm very happy about. But when I look in the mirror, I'm startled! It is uncomfortable. I look older, have wrinkles I never had before (I guess the fat/plumpness kept them visually at bay) and look mildly stressed all the time. Thats not how I imagined this!

Those of you who are further along.....does your face sort of even out once the weight loss tapers off, or do you just become accustomed to your new look? I'm hoping to like the look of myself better in the future!

I know what you mean. I feel like I might look older 88 pounds smaller. I think I look like a balloon that has been poked with a pin and has a slow leak- deflated, I always had a huge midsection and small rear end and small-ish legs. Of course, the belly fat is going to be the last to go. I keep waiting...LOL

When I was 40 I started to use a Lancôme moisturizer, only after showers. Been using it for 25 years. Naturally the weight has come off of my ballon face I had but the wrinkles are at bay so far. Now my body is another thing. My neck also is showing my age. Oh well I am 66 what do I expect. At least I am down 62 lbs in 4 months. That is a good thing.

Ditto. I've only lost about 30lbs so far, but really seeing the sag. My upper thighs and my upper arms make me wanna vomit. I dread the looser and looser skin. I'll never be able to afford plastics unless I marry a rich man lol

I got Restylane (filler) to my tear troughs (under my eyes) and to the nasal labial folds (the wrinkles from my nose to the corners of my mouth) to fill out some of the newly defined wrinkles I am seeing on my face! For me, it definitely helped. However, I am a receptionist at a plastic surgeon's office so thankfully I get reduced pricing for fillers & Botox.

Off topic side note: it's not fun being the only morbidly obese person in a small plastic surgeon's office of 8 women (not including the doc) who are all size 6 & under. Especially when they complain at lunch about how fat they think they are.... If they at size 4 are fat, what does that make me???? Sigh.... (Please excuse my gripe).

Ladies.. there comes a point in life where you must choose.. your face or your figure...

Fat in the face really helps keep a youthful appearance. I'm HATING how my face is looking and I'm only 1/3 of the way into my journey... but I know that I have to take off the weight for my overall health. I'm loading up on night cream.. and day cream.. My neck is the worst.. where I used to have a regular double chin.. I now have a wrinkly old lady turkey gobble.

Me too! I keep telling my 77 year old dad I have his neck, lol! Actually, it's worse. It looks like one of those wrinkley dogs! I just can't believe it...and I'm already counting the days till I can have some plastics done. I'm going to look into some botox after reading this thread. I'm 50 and my skin looked good when it was all filled in, but now I'm starting to look 50....yikes! I'm not above a little rejuvination :)

Mandi they sell by amount. I know it sounds crazy but I spent about 700 on boots for forehead and eye area. I did also get juvederm for my cheeks. It was a few hundred. Results should last up to year and by me some time to save for next surgery for s this skin!

Worth it to me ....but may not be to orhers

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
