  1. I am in Alberta. I had lapband with DrOrtiz at OCC 6ish years ago and revision to sleeve last year with Dr.Aceves
  2. I am in Canada and have had surgery 3 times in Mexico. I have had no issues getting any care here. When I had my band I even got fills and unfills here, no issues. I have a friend who went to Mexico for the sleeve surgery and has had complications. She has had no issues getting doctors here to help her.

I am curious what you guys are having your pb2 with. I ordered some and think its nasty - maybe I need to try it with something?
  4. I had a bad hiatal hernia when I had my band to sleeve revision. Even with my hernia and being a band to sleeve it was a breeze compared to my 3 c-sections, gall bladder (they waited too long and I ended up staying in hospital for two weeks because I was all infected inside), tummy tuck, other surgeries. It still sucked lol and I hurt, but it wasn't even close to the other surgeries
  5. If your doctor wasnt worried I would just ask the numbers. Dont stress. A lot of people have low iron but not enough for infusions and to delay surgery
  6. I had to have an infusion before surgery. I only needed one. It was still on the low side and I cluld have had one more, but I had a reaction to the Iron. They decided my numbers were okay for surgery. Unfortunately I do need another infusion since it has gone down tremendously since surgery. We will be trying some different type. I felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest and it was hard to breathe. After the infusion though (a few days later) I started to be warm. I was always freezing and I didntcrave chewing ice anymore. Anyways I definately recommend the infusion!
  7. Go online, google "out of country forms Alberta health" and you should get the form you need to fill out. Include a detailed receipt from your surgeon. Exactly what the OP stated in their first post is needed.
  8. You sound like me, only I had my band for half the time you did. I too was told I would need to gain to have the revision. I did, 14.5 lbs and it was so hard since my band made me puke things up all the time. I ended up going to Dr.Aceves in Mexicali for my revision. I also had a wide Hiatal Hernia and some other issues. I am so amazed how great it is to have my band out and not constantly be sick! I am struggling a bit not to lose more, never thought Id say that! I lost the weight I gained wiin 10 days of surgery. I had my revision March 22. Feel free to PM me, Im not on here a whole lot
  9. I also went to Dr.Aceves. I had my band to sleeve revision March 22/13. I picked him because of his experience, but also because of the longer hospital stay. I am glad I did and it was the perfect amount of time in hospital for me. I wouldn't have wanted to leave sooner. I have had several other surgeries in Mexico (band, plastics) and in Canada (c-sections, 1 week stay with each which felt like forever, gallbladder) and had a great experience with Dr.Aceves and his staff. If I had to choose again, I would make the same choice.
  10. I frozen premade chocolate protein shakes into plastic popsicle makers and had those a lot, still do. They saved me because brooth was not something I wanted since this was a revision and doing brooth after my original band surgery was enough.
  11. It is hard isn't it. I decided to go to a doctor where I was able to speak to actual people who had been to him, so I knew they actually went. I was so paranoid! I just had a revision in March. Good luck!
  12. Well I have a degree in SW that I do not use. I have been debating completing my masters. I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up I have too many passions!
  13. I am at goal. I got their with my band - It wasnt healthy though as i was constantly throwing up. I was revised to my sleeve in March by Dr.Aceves. I love my sleeve compared to my band!!
  14. I too went to Dr.Aceves. I actually met Amanda briefly. I did extensive research, spoke to several people personally as well as online.
  15. Woooohooooo I start purees tomorrow
  16. Im sorry you are going through this, that is not good of them at all. As to the dont go to Mexico for surgery, you are an idiot. I was banded by Dr.A Ortiz 4.5 years ago and was sleeved by Dr.Aceves March 22/13. Both experiences I was treated amazing and the follow up was great. With Dr.Aceves I have emailed a few questions since surgery and had them reply promptly and had exceptional care at the hospital. I actually went to Dr.Aceves because of the 3 day hospital stay so I wouldnt be sent to a hotel. I do hope the rest of your recovery is smooth sailing.
  17. I was also told if you have issues this soon after surgery go back a stage as your tummy may not be ready for what you are eating
  18. Good luck! I was also there a few weeks ago. Revision on Marc 22nd. Hope all goes smoothly!
  19. I had lapband for four years. Was revised 18 days ago to the sleeve. My band was a pain. I threw up a lot. I constaly needed fills and unfills. I did get to goal, but it was very unhealthy. My port bugged me the entire time too. Being only 18 days out I like being sleeved way more. No port, no fills or unfills. No puking. Its awesome
  20. I was allowed to drive a three days after surgery, I was off pain killers
  21. I freeze them into popsicles
  22. I freeze my chocolate ones, they tatse like a fudgesycle
  23. I started botox after, seriously. I helped a lot
  24. Had the band for four years, had a revision to sleeve March 22. Band got me to goal, in a very unhealthy way. I like my sleeve much more already! Plus my port drove me nuts!
