Has anyone stalled in weightloss?

Recommended Posts

i got banded in October 05 and was doing really well loosing about 3.3 lb a week...then since February I stalled until November. I have slowly started to loose it again not as good rate each week. but I made some small changes like started walking again, and trying not to eat in between meals and it seems to be helping heaps.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

I haven't stalled however I have slowed down considerably. I'm okay with that though, I've done really well and if it takes the next 6 months to drop the last 20 then that's okay....I'll get there for sure.

I think making changes is a very good idea. Even when dieting the conventional way they recommend that you reduce calories a bit and eat different food choices as well as pump up the exercise when you reach a plateau.

I'm sure there will be times when we will have to depend on ourselves more than the band to drop a few but we can do it!

Flabuless, I'd bet EVERYONE has had a similar experience. If they haven't yet, they will. "Stalling" is part of ANY weight loss regimen, and as Woodys says most programs suggest mixing up your approach when it happens.

Whatever works for you is the right answer for you.

Ugh, I can completely relate to this. I have been losing and gaining the same two pounds for about two weeks now. It is really doggone frustrating but I'm trying to shake things up by eating new foods I haven't tried before and I'm staying the course with exercise. Hopefully I snap out of it soon! Congrats on getting back on the losing side again!

I have been on a 4 month plateau. I havent changed my eating, it is still on track....but when school started my 3 mile walks stopped. I am relieved that I have maintained, but I KNOW what I need to do to get the losing going again! I feel with you, it is frustrating when that scale stops moving!

I've lost really really really slowly for the last 8 weeks or so. Like only 1.5 kg in that whole time, despite having increased my running distances to 10km at a time (for a race I was training for). That's 1000 calories burned per session - and nope, not losing!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
