I started the process in Feb and I was just approved today! Yay! I'm so excited. The only bad side to it.....my surgery is not until July, wish it was sooner. I dont even have another doc appt until mid June. So the next two and a half months are going to go by reeealllllly slow.

That is wonderful! Trust us, it will go by quick. I was the same way, and before I knew it I was in surgery!! I wasn't even nervous the day of surgery... I was pumped and ready to go. :-) many well wishes to you!

I was told that surgery would be a month out after I was approved so I've been expecting an early May surgery, but oh well...what's two more months? :)

I feel pumped and ready to go now but I'm sure the nerves will kick in closer to. What I'm really nervous about is the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Ugh!

I used Unjury chicken Soup, and Soy Protein. Don't buy a container if you don't have to. Also the Atkins shakes aren't bad. I get the chocolate and mocha latte. If you have a local GNC they'll let you try samples of their protein drinks/powders. I don't get the nasty after taste with Soy, also chicken broth, beef broth and sugar free Jello helps too. Don't forget cream Soups and puddings.< /p>

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
