5 days post op and worried-feeling horrible.

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone for the helpful comments. Spoke with my doc and he said to drink way more fluids than ive been drinking and to walk a lot. I knew that but the pain meds have been making me very sleepy. I might get my drainage tube out tomorrow instead of friday. I feel that the tube is one thing holding me back a bit...i HATE it. Im getting bored out of my mind staying at home...mom is taking me to the mall today. Other than smelling lots of food, im pumped to get out.

I am having less and less pain where my stomach was removed...mostly horrible gas pain. Doc said the more i walk the better i feel. I have an office job so it shouldnt be a huge deal...i just dont want to be in pain the whole time and pop pain meds all day.

I am 8 days post op and feel pretty good. I just wanted to agree with you on the drain. The drain was the biggest pain and I feel soooo much better after having it taken out this morning. Most of my pain I was having in my abdomen is gone now. I hope it gets better for you! Good luck.

I had the same experience. I thought I was feeling better and on day 5 thought I had turned the good corner. But the next day felt horrible. Trust me it gets better! I am 20 days out today I feel good. Only a little bit of sorness in the incision area (healing). Take it one day and one step at a time. Drink Drink and Walk walk Gas X did wonders for me.

Hello...this isnt all horrible but i am feeling quite unmotivated and painful today.

I am 5 days post op and I am feeling abdolutely dreadful. I find myself very worried that I will still be feeling this way on Monday (which is when I must return to work). My worst complaint right now is the stomach pressure (gas' date=' I suppose)...it hurts soo much. I also feel like it may be pain from those lovenox shots that prevent blood clots. The worst parts of the day are the mornings and when Ive sat too long.

I am getting at least 60 grams of Protein a day in and quite a bit of liquid...so that isnt an issue. I also feel sometimes that heart is beating out of my chest (like after you get out of a long hot bath).

Everyone is saying that they feel better each day. At first I thought i was recovering pretty quickly..but now Im getting worried. I may be impatient...im just used to this much pain and i really need some support/advice from the other POST ops out there.

Thanks fo reading my post.[/quote']

Are you taking any meds for diabetes or hbp? I regressed about day 5, but I was taking all my meds and my sugars were too low and so was my bp! I went to see my surgeon and my bp was 92/45! Once all that went up, I perked right up too!

That stinks. Are you having to bandage it up constantly?

I won't lie when they pulled mine out it felt like they punched me in the stomach but it quickly went away. Follow your diet instructions and make sure you always get your Protein as it is a must for good wound healing! Congratulations on your sleeve! I am so happy now and wish I had done this sooner!

Yea it didnt hurt me a bit...i wouldnt use the word 'incredible' to describe it though. More like 'weird'

Feel like a new woman today, especially after I had that thing removed!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
