Just curious to know who went to TJ without using a passport? Was told that I could still use birth certificate and drivers license. I am going to Dr. Garcia at Mi hospital.< /p>

I Went 3/6 and returned 3/10 without a passport with no issue. I was just ask why I was there and the driver just said "medical care" and we was on our way.

Our van was pulled over for further inspection and one of the women with us had to get taken out and fingerprinted and they kept saying that she had a restraining order against her, etc.. She did not have a passport and they were questioning her identity, her address, EVERYTHING. We were held up for over an hour while they did research on her identity. Can't help but wonder if things would have gone smoother if she had a passport or enhanced driver's license.

You may not technically NEED a passport to drive across the border, but if you have time and opportunity I would suggest having either a passport, passport card or enhanced drivers license. It definitely makes things easier if there's any question or issue.

(Note that a passport card or EDL is only good for land or sea travel - a full passport is required for air travel into another country.)

As of march 2010, it is required to have a passport to get in and out of Mexico. They don't always check it at the border but you could be asked to provide it anytime through your stay...or they may not at all. Rather be safe than sorry :)

The law requires you to have a passport/passport card/EDL to cross ALL borders now. Most of the border workers don't really care so you can usually get away with not having one, but get the border agent who is a stickler for the rules and you will cause yourself and anyone you go with a huge headache and a significant delay. And rightly so - you are breaking the law without it. Risk it if you want, but I wouldn't.

I wouldn't want to risk being delayed in Mexico especially after being sleeved and all want is to get home and crawl into my bed...... :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
