Am I Hungry or Full? 4 Weeks Post Op Today.

I'm 4 weeks post op and I've been having some stomach discomfort. I can only describe it as a gnawing feeling that you'd get when VERY hungry or if you were to take a medication that needed to be taken with food and didn't eat. I guess it's like a mild nausea. I've tried 4oz of low sugar yogurt, that didn't seem to matter either way. A few minutes later I would feel the same thing. During the day it is annoyiing but at night it's hard to get to sleep because of it. Drinking water sometimes will aggrivate it. I cant tell if I'm hungry because my stomach is always gurgling or bubbling or making some new noise. I was wondering if any of this is just normal. I have a "one month" appointment comming next week so I can ask my Dr. then but figured I'd try here first.

Could be acid reflux are you taking anything for it. Acid reflux will mimic hunger.

I agree with Mrs Whitty.. it sounds like acid reflux.

Agree reflux

Yes, I have been taking Prilosec for years. This does not feel like the reflux I used to have though. That was a definite burn in my esophogus... like heartburn.

Is it more like a spasm,it gets tight like it is squeezing.Because I get that and the Dr said stomach is still healing and getting used to the changes.I too am 4 weeks we will see if it gets better

Maybe like a spasm, feels like its in a knot at times.

When my stomach feels like that I am usually in need of food. I know the difference when it's gas or indigestion.

But eating doesnt help usually. Who would have thought that I would ever wonder if I was hungry or not! The answer was easy before... hungry all the time!

I was also 4 weeks on 02/26!.. I AM also getting hungry? Alot lately usually happens between meals and alot at nighy or 1st thing in the morning. I thought I was actually just hungry. I was taking generic prilosec and the beginning but then stopped bc I thought my acid was normal now. Wellll.. I started again and stopped bc I didnt see a difference. Well today I decided I will take 2 a day. 1 in the morning and 1 at night and we will see what happens.... I wish I was lucky and never hungry :(

We have the same surgery date and I am always so hungry as well. Nothing seems to keep me full for long, 1-2 hours max! I'm searching through different threads to try and find an answer but I haven't found any yet. I'm trying so hard to stay below 800 calories but I'm starving!

I'll be 4 weeks out tomorrow and I'm suffering from the same thing. I can't tell if its hunger or stomach acid. I'm taking PPI and and calcium carbonate but my stomach still feels uncomfortable. Food only satifies for 30 mins or so, then the hunger feeling comes back.

Im sure some of it is hunger BUT I did notice that when I started to take generic antacids (the pills) 2xs a day.. once at night and once in morning.. my hunger IS a lil less. Im not starving feeling when I wake up and whatnot. Give it a try! Plus u have to think.. what are you eating throughout the day also?? I usually am eating chicken breast strips.. lunch meat.. eggs.. and add cheese to everything haha.

I had the same feelings of hunger all the time! I was taking protonix and my stomach would still grumble. I would eat every few hours, all Protein to try to fill me up and last longer. I have to say now at 10 weeks out the hunger pains have lessened quite a bit. In the last few weeks I eat and I'm not even hungry. I know lots of ppl didnt feel hunger for the first few months, but I was the opposite. I know they make other proton inhibitors, maybe trying a different one would help? I'm not sure but for me it was just a waiting thing and it got better over time.

Now about 6 weeks out... I told my dr of the problem, he just shrugged his shoulders. I have noticed that if I press on my stomach area the pain goes away for a short while. If the dr. isn't alarmed, neither am I. No other problems.
