It's on for April 9th, Going all liquid today!

Recommended Posts

Gentlemen,

I've been a man's room browser for weeks now (don't like how that sounded) so I felt it was time to sign inand introduce myself. I started this process 4 months back to get insurance coverage and there I weighed in at 342 lbs. I've been thinking about a band at first but since getting on here and speaking with my surgeon getting a sleeve seems like a no brainer. I know is by no means going to be easy but not many good things in life are without the effort. I do want to say I've appreciated the topics and brutal honesty that goes on here and I plan to be an active participant to help others along the way.

So with all that said I'm about 2 1/2 weeks out from the "Big Day" and I start my full liquid diet today! Wish me luck guys and gals. Oh I was reading a post about a fellow sleever just got his done for March Madness I hope all went well there. I hope you didn't have New Mexico in your pool though ;) I find out I get Master's golf on while I'm recouping so it's all good!

I'm ready,I'm pumped and I'm looking forward to this new journey for life.

I'll be in touch fellow sleevers,

Bruce

Welcome Bruce! Many of us just lurked for a bit before we posted. I learned everything i needed to know to help with this process before i had my surgery. It is beyond a doubt, the most exciting thing you will ever do for youself. Good luck with preop. It can be a b***h for some, but others seem to breeze right on through it. I think its all in the mindset.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
