I'm 3 days out..almost 4... and everytime I take a sip of Water, I feel it travel down and then culminate into a rather painful gurgle. I am beginning to hate drinking!!!! Is this normal? The gas is is still very much in my system, so it wouldn't shock me to learn if this was normal, but I'm slightly paranoid after having had such a difficult hospital stay. Thanks everyone.

Yes...it took me about 10 days for that feeling to go away. It took me about a month before I was able to actually take a sip of Water and not have it hurt in some way. Now at 19 months post op I can drink like a normal person again. I can even gulp water, which was huge for me because I have always been a gulper of water. I don't feel like my thirst is quenched without having a lot of water at one time. :)

Same thing happened to me. Was better by day 6 on. Sometimes I get a noisy tummy but it happens with Water and/or food. I remember drinking water and feeling it go down at the same time gas came up and somewhere in my esophagus they met and pass each other up. It will get better.

Yes, this is completely normal. It will start to get better and better over time. It takes quite awhile, but you will notice steady improvement week after week.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
