May 2013 Sleevers!

  • Popular Post

Hello everyone, I wanted to see how many May 2013 sleevers there are! :D What are you doing at this point to prepare for surgery? What are your stats?

I am scheduled for May 15th. So excited, but nervous!! I am currently 260 and my highest was 268 in February. I plan to get down to at least 250 before the two week Protein diet prior to my surgery. My goal weight is 150 which I haven't been at in about 7 years! I started my journey in January of this year. I was fortunate enough that my insurance approved me without requiring a 6 month monitored diet. I have a good amount of support, didn't start off that way though. First responses were "you're taking the easy way out", so I took them to information seminars which completely changed their views (whew!). I am extremely excited for the surgery because it's a new me. I can completely change my life habits around and start feeling better about myself physically and mentally. When I think back, I've realized my weight has kept me from making friends, going in public, and just plain living life!

I would love to hear all of your stories thus far and how your journey to getting sleeved has been! :D

Thanks!!

- Brooke

My pre op appoinment was about three hours long. And I met with my nutritionist and then the nurse and then my surgeon. They explain you everything thatvis goi ng to happen to you and they gave you prescriptions for the medicine after surgery such as urso that you have to start taking a month after surgery. Hope thos helps.

I was sleeved may 7 but my doc said two weeks of liquids to make sure everything is healed inside. Its ok with me. I'm kinda scared to go to purreed what if I eat to much and something pops or tears? I guess I'm just wierd like that. Lol

Any other May 6/7 starting their puréed food phase this week?

I am not allowed to start until the 19th and I was sleeved May 6th. Let us know how you do on puree. I can't wait!

My NUT has me on full liquids until two weeks out...on the third week post-op, I can start soft foods--my plan skips the puree stage altogether...I am looking forward to taking a bite of soft scrambled eggs in about a week

I know how you feel. I too, am feeling that way!

its weird how each NUT has a different set of rules.

But I'm sure we will know when we are full. I'm starting with soggy weetbix (like porridge) with a lot of milk!!

Wish me luck.

I defiantly will. I've already made soups and meals that are puréed that are in the freezer (but still need more)!

That's awesome for you! I'm kinda glad that I am doing it to ease onto food. I'm tolerating fluids fine now so I'm sure ill be ok. How is your weight loss going do far?

Hey Brooke

I was may ninth, and I'm feeling great now four days out. I had to do the six month plan but I learned a lot that prepared me. I am excited that we have so many people making this choice and looking forward to a healthier lifestyle. Hope everything works well for you.

:-)

as of this morning, I am down 10 pounds from the day I went in for surgery

Oohhh I may still your diet and skip puree to lol. Seems to be a good move of the "nut" lol. I really like the liquid, today I made liquid black eyed peas with skim milk and garlic and my kids thought it was gravey and put it on their rice lol. I never told them it was a boost of protein they will need.
