I've heard from a bariatric post op nurse that nausea is one of the worst side effects of the sleeve. She said for even months after surgery. How was everyone's nausea and what did you do for it?

I am a month out and was fine until this last week. Sometimes after I eat, I feel sick and just want to lay down. This only happens when I try something new though.

I had it right after surgery, & only mildly the next week. I've been fine since.

I never had nausea -- not even when I was in the hospital. I am 19 months out, and my sleeve has never caused me to throw up or feel nauseous. If I eat too much, it feels stuck/painful in my chest. Walking helps with this.

I am six weeks postop and having nausea and some vomitting in the evenings. I think it's a combination of trying new things and drinking too close to eating. Hope it goes away soon.

I had nausea around weeks 6-8. It was almost like vertigo, mostly with movement. I also had a post op infection then though, so its unclear what caused the queasiness. I wore a scopolamine patch until it went away.

It the grand scheme of things, it was an inconvenience more than a big issue. The last poster was right too, sometimes when I try a new food or texture, I feel funky too.

Frankly it's the heartburn I complain about most. I'll be at three months on Sunday and haven't had any nausea lately.

I did ask my doc about a ppi after surgery and he mentioned that this surgery does nothing to help reflux. I think my reflux not is weight related so i am hoping once I start losing weight out will go away. I don't have it all the time just sometimes when i am at work in the middle of the night and i don't take anything for it.

I had nausea in the hospital due to the pain meds... And the swallow tests. I refused to use the pain pump because I couldn't take the nausea.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
