I am 3 weeks out from surgery and after the first week I started being hungry. Can someone tell me if they have found a solution for the hunger. I have tried several different Protein shakes' date=' I eat Soups, I can't seem to get all of the Water I should have each day, but I try. I just desperately need something to satisfy the hunger. I have only lost 17 lbs.

Please help![/quote']

That happened to me so I had to start doing regular foods ... Just chewed really well . Protein Bars help a lot . The Protein shakes stopped helping the hunger . Good luck

I was just like you, my lack of hunger lasted several months but little by little you start getting hungrier but nowhere near the levels I was at pre-surgery

I'm 5 months post op and I get hungry especially a week before my period. When my period is over I don't feel hungry but I can tell when I need to eat because I start to feel dizzy or very tired. I eat every 2-3 hours even if I'm not hungry but it only takes a couple of bites before I'm satisfied.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
