Dear fellow sleevsters,

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the fact that i have stalled...i bounce between 159 and 161....

I increased Water, Protein and excersise. My body feels stuck.

I have stalled since super bowl sunday...and im freaking out. I know i have lost 50% of what i wanted to lose, but as i am approaching 4 month mark on 3/19, is this it? Am i doomed to work my a$$ off with no more to show for it??

:( :(

How tall are you and what is your goal weight? I am so sorry you are stuck. Stalls are awful and they so mess with your head.

I'm 5'2" so I am sensitive to the unfairness of the universe when it comes to shorties and how little we have to weigh to be "thin". I bet you look great right now. I remember when I weighed 160 and I thought I was a fat pig. My high weight was 257 and today I am 222. I also remember 125 and that was fantastic.

I guess all my rambling is meant to say that I doubt this is a permanent situation. Based on what I have read here, a 3 month stall is not unusual. Without scaring you, I have read about 6 month stalls. Maybe your body is just comfortable where you are for a bit while it adjusts and then it will start up again. I am sure it took you more than 6 months to get to your high weight. It took me 25 years to get from 125 to 257. I am frustrated that I have spent half my 30 days since surgery in a stall, but I believe I will continue to lose and based on what the folks here have posted, so will you.

So true, i was telling my dad today that i think because i have lost 50% of the 100 lbs i wanted to lose that my body is catching up. I think as shorties get the short end of the dtick. For alot of people, 160 is a goal lol. Ty for your advice

This is actually not a stall according to my NUT but a plateau which is when you don't lose any weight for more than 4 weeks. For me, to keep losing weight I have to up my exercise because as you lose weight your body becomes much more efficient and doesn't burn as many calories. How many calories are you taking in? I do the usual plan here of 600 to 800 calories along with no more than 20 carbs (although yesterday I took in 32). My exercise routine is 60 minutes of cardio a day, 2 days of strength training and 1 bootcamp per week. I have lost more weight in the past 3 months doing this than I did in my first 5 months, averaging about 11 lbs a month.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
