I am finding all doctors are so different. Mine had me eat a two week under 40 carb diet up until the night before surgery. Then only 2 days clear , 1 week full , and I started purée on my 9th day. And I am on 10 days out from surgery , it was feb 21. And I get to eat mush in 5 more days ....I'm seeing on here some people are on liquid for weeks

Yes it is weird that doctors don't have a more uniformed approach to the post op diet..

How are you feeling? do you feel ready to progress to the next step?

I'm barely doing the purée. By the time I get 2 Protein Shakes in. A little purée. I'm done for the day.

That sounds about right you really need time to "build" to larger amounts just try to build up to your Protein and Water targets.

And if your not ready when the next stage comes wait a few more days until your ready.

Yeah all the docs are different I was out on Clear Liquids but with Premier Protein shakes until my first post op appointment with my doc and the. Went straight to purée but I think it's important to follow my docs plan since he is the one treating me but I love reading everyone else's experiences

Good advice, & as long as you r satisfied with whatever small ounces you are on don't increase your portion, over time it just comes along.

Vitamins, vitamins,vitamins.....for the long haul

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
