Okay so I'm now 3 days post op and I've been sleeping in a recliner but my neck and back is killing me!

How long before you slept in a bed? And which sleeping positions were most comfortable?

Thanks!

jennaleigh

i "used" the bed the first night home

didn't sleep much :(

i sleep on my right side, of course the side of my incision

when i "tried" to turn to the other side, since i was so "big" the incision kindof "wrapped" around and still hurt.

i was very uncomfortable - but the next two nights got better

weeks end - i was sleeping like a baby :)

hope you get adjusted to sleeping better soon :)

sweet dreams :)

'night :)

speedy recovery

I laid on my right side and learned to crawl into bed using mostly my legs which really helped a lot. I didn't sleep not because I was in pain, but because they had prescribed Loratab which is liquid vicodin and it hyped me up. Finally went in to see urgent care doc and she prescribed tylenol with cod and that did the job..... what a relief.. :)

I slept in the recliner for 4 or 5 days, then moved to my bed, which is adjustable, so I had it cranked up somewhat like a recliner. It was about 2 weeks before I could comfortably roll over on my side.

Soon it will all be just a distant and faint memory...

I came home and went straight to my bed (literally) I had a back rest and lots of pillows.

When I slept I just propped up a bit on my pillows and side slept.

And as far as getting in and out of bed, "roll"

Instead of using your stomach muscles.

Good luck, it will get better in a couple of days.

I found that having a pillow directly next to you and then rolling your belly onto it helped keep the incision from moving. I would usually get stuck in this position though, I always had trouble flipping back over.

My awkward turtle phase. Unable to turn over from my back to my front.

It was in good fun, but my family thought it was funny.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
