I finally got a surgery date!!!!!! April 8 th!!!! I'm so excited I could burst! I would like to keep up with other April sleevers, pre-op diets, protien shakes, progress, stats, any concerns, etc. Lets hear it for new beginnings!

I got my surgery date today April 15! I bought all the stuff they wanted me to buy. Protein powders' date=' vitamins, protein shots etc. It came to 328!! OMG I hope this will last me for awhile. I don't like paying so much but I will do whatever they want to have the surgery. I am so excited. I can't believe I am really doing this after thinking about this for so long. I'm scheduled for April 11th or 22nd...got approval from Insurance in one day! WOW...the Doctors office is so full that now I have to wait until April. But that's OK I am just super excited that I am done with all pre-certs! On the other hand I am a little nervous. There is no turning back now....this is the start of my new life!

Because that's when it was, they moved it up due to a severe hernia. And that's just fine by me. . And I don't know how to change it... LOL

I got my date today APRIL 17 .

Of course I am nervous but I have to do this for myself.

My husband is supportative but today he said if it were him he would not do it.

He does not want to tell me it is a good thing in case I complain later and blame him for any problems.

Lets do this all together and make friends throough this new journey. I have never like to travel alone.

I don't have a husband or a boyfriend, and I usually like to travel alone but this time I need people. I'm lucky that I have the support of most of my friends and family, but I'm a little heartbroken that my mom wants nothing to do with it. I asked her if she'd be here for my surgery (she lives 90 minutes away) and she said, "Oh, that's a Wednesday? I probably have to work that day." SHE WORKS FOR MY BROTHER IN LAW, who would be MORE than willing to give her time off to come and be with me. Ugh.

Well, my mom is encouraging me but is 85 so she can not come.

I have not told any friends because of all the questions.

I am planning to tell my children on Easter sunday when they are both in my hometown.

I am in Louisiana and doing this as private pay. I am 63 years old and weigh 234 pounds and am 5 fee tall.

Oh, I've gone totally public with my surgery. I have a blog and everything, and I keep everyone updated on Facebook, too. I know that there's a chance I could fail at this, so in my mind if I have people cheering me on and really rooting for me, then I'm less likely to slink back into old habits. I have immense support, but I just wish my mom were more supportive. My aunt will be at the hospital all day with me on Sleeve Day, and my sister will be here with me my first night at home, and I have a ton of friends who've offered to come by and help, keep me company, feed my pets, etc. But I feel like a big old brat because "I want my mommy," and she is resisting this thing.

Tell your friends, and if they ask questions? Educate them. That's what I do. Or start a blog with a "FAQ" section. I did that, too. I'm not shy about talking about this, and I feel like the more people know what I'm doing and going through, the more they'll understand.
