Hi, I had my sleeve done 1 week ago. I had several good days and then was nauseated all day yesterday. I am drinking, on avg, 40-60 oz a day and getting 40-60g Protein with Promasil shakes. I am CONSTANTLY sipping.

I really was worried yesterday and no one to ask questions to. This site is an answered prayer.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. I was also sleeved a week ago and the last 2 days have been great but today I woke up nauseated so I'm glad to hear that maybe it's normal. Luckily I have nausaa meds so I'm feeling a little better. I'm trying to get more Water in but I'm kinda just sick of drinking stuff all day. Anyway I hope things go well for you.

I would give your Doc's office or NUT a call for sure first... however, your story sounds pretty average. I don't know many folks that a week out can do that well with the Fluid and protein! Kudos to you!! Sometimes the nausea can be your body saying that there's just too much too soon for your still-healing sleeve. In my case, I suddenly could not tolerate the protien and had to strategize.

Your doctor should be able to help you figure out ways to help the nausea but know you're not alone.

That happened a lot to me the first month or so.. There would be a day here and there where I felt nauseated. It does go away. I think there is really no rhyme or reason to it sometimes just our body still working things out.

But if its continuous, its something you can talk to your surgeon about.

Some people feel that way because of acid.

I forgot to say that yesterday and today, I'm sticking to the shakes and lo cal G2 Gatorade. Seems to settle better.

I am also a week out no nausea but still minor cramping here and there? I just started to get the required Water down without a problem. The Protein Shakes are going in much easier. Tried Tomato Soup yesterday and that went well 3 ounces. Have lost almost 30 lbs don't know if that's normal but I'm excited about it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
