How much of Atkins Meals?

Recommended Posts

How much of an Atkins meal can you eat? I am 9 weeks out on this Wednesday and i just ate a chicken & Brocolli meal. I ate a bit more then 1/2. A feel like i could have ate the whole thing but stoped because my mind said thats too much.

Just wondering how much of these kinds of meals can you eat in one sitting? Maybe i ate too much.

At 18 months post op, I can eat a whole Atkins meal. My personal favorite is the steak and broccoli with gravy. Yummy. Be careful when choosing the frozen meals, though, some of them are pretty high in sodium and msg. MSG and I are not friends. :)

Where do you find the Atkins meals?

I found them at Walmart with the other frozen Entrees. A "whole" Atkins meal is about 6-8 ounces of food, so it's about the perfect size for a meal for me.

I'm curious too... I'm 10 weeks out and feel like I can eat more than I should...

Darn it, I couldn't find them at my Walmart...I have been wanting to give them a try. I do like the Lean Cuisine beef tenderloins with broccoli, the one meal they have without noodles, rice or potatoes! How do the Atkins meals taste??

I can only eat 1/3 at 8 weeks out. My husband eats the rest (2/3), and is also 8 weeks out.

The Atkins meals are good if you have issues with Portion Control. Honestly though, if you're sticking to a high Protein, low carb diet, eating the whole thing is not a deal breaker. I did Atkins years ago and I ate until I was full of meat and veggies. No more than 20g of carbs per day... Just so you don't feel so bad :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
