I've been overweight all my life. I don't remember even being below 200 since I was about 12. So when my surgeon tells me I can get below 200 with this surgery, I can't even fathom. I'm about 297 right now. Surgery is scheduled for March 20. I've dieted so many times in my life and exercised like crazy with several of those diets and still only managed to lose about 20 lbs each time. When the scale stopped moving, I lost hope and gave up....just to repeat the cycle a couple months later. Now at 28 with high blood pressure and pcos and many things that run in my family, I have decided to get the sleeve. I'm scared it won't work...just like everything else. But I'm going in with high hopes and I know it's just another tool and it's all in how you work it. We'll see :) I am thankful to have found this forum!

I know how you were feeling, I to had high blood pressure, pros and type two diabetes. I weighed 298lbs before my surgery, and had weighed that weight for many years. I was sleeved dec 24 2012, and I am already down to 244lbs. I feel so much better and I can't wait to see what I way in another six months. Life is already so much better.

Melissa, girlfriend, your surgeon is right! I just made it to 'onederland' (slang for going under 200 lbs.) the past month. My surgery was Oct 11th-started pre-op diet Aug 11 weighing 278. Today, almost 5 months post-op and I weigh 197! I haven't weighed under 200 lbs in 20 years-since b4 my 2 daughters were born and they are 18&19! I never thought I'ld see the day-like you I've dieted only to stall and regain. I look and feel better than I have in many years. Is it easy? He-- no! I stll have hard days, but with my diabetes reversed and sleep apnea gone, I now have the energy and drive to live my life to the fullest. Not just being worried about having a full tummy. Good luck-we're here for you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
