I'm givin' up nothing cause I'm a (not as) big (as I used to be) ol' heathen.

Haha, I'm pretty close to being a heathen myself!

Last year I gave up caffeine and on Tuesday I was the victim of an intervention from my work colleagues begging me to give up anything but caffeine this year as I was such a moody cow for 40 whole days!!!

This year I'm giving up Facebook.< /p>

I think he plays for the same team you do, but I'm not 100% sure.

So, don't feel bad.

I think I'm giving up my scale for lent! This is going to be the hardest thing for me to do' date=' because I am a daily/multiple times a day weigher. I think this is going to help me remove my obsessive focus from the numbers. Anyone else giving up something?[/quote']

I am going to join you, too! Sorry for being a copy cat. I am just 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery. Down 34 lbs, including a 20 lb loss on the pre-op diet. I feel like my excitement to get out of bed everyday is that stupid scale! I hate that. Sure, I want to lose weight! But ultimately, that isn't the goal. I want to be healthy. I want to feel better.

Thank you for such a great idea! :)

Gave up most of my stomach about 40 days ago. Now its time to give up another weakness, the couch. Started "Couch to 5K". Lord knows I'll need divine help with that!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
