I haven't had an acne problem since I was in the 6th grade. I get a pimple on my chin every so often, but usually my skin is very clear. I'm 9 weeks post op, and now my skin is going cuckoo-bananas  ! I've had a weird dry rash on my forehead and a crazy amount of blemishes. Has anyone else had this experience? Will it stop, or will I need dermatalogical intervention?

This is a very normal part of losing weight. As you gain weight, your fat absorbs and hold hormones that are in your body. As you lose the weight these extra hormones are released. When you lose weight fast, these hormones are released much faster, and in some ways can flood your body. Many people have different hormones trapped, and react different ways. Some of us will go through Patches of really acne filled skin (I've gone through a few break outs already myself) some women become particularly fertile, which is why many of us are advised to use at least 2 forms of birth control after the procedure for at least a year etc. Just know this too shall pass ;) Good luck on your journey!

I've found that since my diet has changed quite a lot that my skin (as influenced by my diet) is actually better than it was. My diet is now mostly lean meat, vegetables, and low fat dairy products, as opposed to fast food and other carb heavy dishes. I can tell a difference, now that I'm several months out.

Have your Vitamin A levels checked just in case. Decreased levels can cause rashes and dry Patches. I noticed that my legs and back were very itchy (other issues arise if not addressed). It turned out that my Vitamin A was depleted and my doctor had me had additional supplements (A and Beta Carotene) to bring my levels back up.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
