A thread for Single Bandsters

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we could discuss the different challenges/issues we face as being single and banded.

I'll start with introducing myself. My name is Chris, I am 32 and live in a suburb of Boston. About a year ago I got out of a 5 year relationship and have just casually dated (online dating) since then. I have decided to take a break from dating for a bit, so I can focus on myself and adjust to living life as a bandster. (I was just banded on 10/2). One of my biggest concerns when I start dating again is if/when to tell that I am banded. It's not that I don't want to tell people, it's just that my idea of great dinner conversation does not include discussing my weight. Overall I would say that I have a great life. I have a good job, a very supportive family, and lots of friends. I am happy to be taking control over my weight and issues with food, and am excited at the prospect of my future as a not-so-fat woman.

I look forward to meeting more single bandsters and hope this thread takes off!

Chris :cocktail:

so the meeting of the family went well, they loved me so should be pretty smooth sailing from now on. I have a quote on my facebook page, one day you'll meet someone and realize exactly why all the others didn't work out. thinking that might have happened since this is the first person ever really that I don't have to censor myself with, its a pretty nice feeling.

hope things con't to go well with your man athinnerdenise.

That is really true. I wish I had met him sooner, but I am really glad I found him. So that is 3 of us now that met our guys on match!

They often give you 7 days free. Just be sure to cancel soon enough.

Send out a bunch of emails during that 7 days and see if you get any

replies.

yes, that is right. if they pay and you don't , if you send them a message it will say "you have a message, pay 39.99 (or whatever it costs)

and join now so you can read your message.

I often paid for just a month and quit after the time was up. It doesn't take 6 months to start corresponding with someone who interests you.

missy, when i decided to sign up at the begining of june, i did opt to sign for 6 months, only because pay for 6 get 6 for free if you don't meet anyone and of course follow all the criteria to stay eligible for the offer, so imagine my surprise when I met N a little over a month into it, am I out some extra money, yes, was it worth it, totally! ( and to of course have a pessimistic moment, just in case the profile is still there just hidden if things don't work out, but they will.) As I mentioned in an earlier post I was very very picky about who I would spend one of my precious evenings off with and N was the first one who got past the email/phone call part of it.

Starting to wonder if I should check it out. LOL

I have a few guys that I see; truth is, I am not all that interested in one person right now. But, if it was THE guy, someone who just fit me, then I could be persuaded to change my mind.

Missy,

Good luck on your date! I kissed A LOT of frogs to find my prince, so worth it to wait though till you meet the right one.

I second that! I met way too many frogs, but now I have never been happier. I hope this one is your prince!

Wow, not only was it one of the best dates I've had in a while but he kept me laughing all night. We both had a wonderful time. I haven't been able to get this smile off my face since last night. He told me he can't wait to go out again and has still been so consistent in texting and calling me since we met. As in the past, I'd go on a date and they acted all interested before and during the date and then afterwards they would rarely call. We'll see. I don't want to get all excited so early but I just have such a wonderful feeling about him.

Yay! that is the greatest news!

More good news! Sounds like a wonderful relationship blossoming!
