Hi, my post op. weight was 106 Kgs (234 lbs.), Morbidities: DM Type 2, Hypertension. Blood glucose: not less than 350 any time, even after Insulin dosages.

Weight on date of surgery: 101 Kgs., Date of Surgery: Nov. 02, 2012.

Weight after one month of surgery: 85 Kgs. (187 lbs.), down by 16kgs ( 35 lbs) in 30 days.

Stall for about 4 weeks and now it is 81 Kgs, about 25 Kgs/55lbs less.

No more insulin required since about last 2 weeks, blood sugar under control (between 90 -100 anytime) with antidiabetic tablets. Hypertension under control (120/80) with reduced doses of anti hypertensive medications.

Did not experience any problem any time except in 4 th week. Had very mild dehydration. I.V. DNS 1 unit on two consecutive days resolved the issue.

Returned to work in 4 weeks. Take adequate Proteins and nutrients. Losing weight slowly but steadily. Target: 72 Kgs, (158 lbs), I am in no hurry. Shall be happy to reach in six months from now. Main object is to be off anti diabetic tablets too and glucometer should always and at any point of time show reading below 120....!!! :-))

Having dream run, life is like never before. :-)

Welcome!

I am not from India but spent a month in your beautiful country many years ago in Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.

It sounds like you are doing well and have a good outlook. I am glad you realize it is better to not be in a hurry.

I got rid of diabetic tablets, blood pressure medicine, and the C-Pap for sleep apnea.

Good wishes to you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
