sleeve sched for feb 1st

Recommended Posts

36 yr old and Im ready to sleeve. I am curious how long everyone took off work. Also the pre-op diet is, well, it sucks. How are your craving post-op? Was reading about getting cathed on another thread..whatever it takes. Also, do you get NG tubes?

Usually no ng tubes, catheter is possible as well as jp drains. I found the preop diet impossible and am having an easier time with post op..still not super easy but I do find post op easier than preop.

Yea. Im getting tired of shakes and broth. I broke down and ate a Peanut Butter and jelly yest. Back on track now. I do realize I cant do that after next week and wont. Self-preservation tends to out weigh cravings for me. Though the cath would happen. Not thrilled but oh well. How are the cravings post-op? Your stomach is so different afterwards just wondering if less ghrellen(think I spelled it right)makes a noticible difference.

My doc allowed a few cups of salad and a lean cuisine under 300 cal but I still had issues...not sure why since it was not as self limiting as others but I guess it was just hard for me with everyone from work to home eating all kind of goodies and my old eating habits wanting to come out! I think you will find post op a little easier in the long run.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
