Yeah I am new also, there are internet Trolls everywhere. I HATE the ones that talk about going to McDonalds or some other FF joint. What's scary are the number of positive words of encouragement they get, It makes me wonder Really who is the sick one.

I am confused. Sorry LOL. Are you talking about the trolls who come on and start trouble or do you think that people are lying about a surgeon and just trying to get business.

To be honest I really haven't paid much attention but that's sad if that is true. I guess i take what anyone says online with a grain of salt anyways so i really don't take it to heart. I hope people are smart enough to do their own research instead of believing everything they read on a message board. The good and the bad. I am having surgery in MX 3/7 and i think I have seen only like 4 post about my surgeon on here. At first that made me nervous but after talking to him and his coordinator I feel he is the best choice for me.

I do notice a lot of poster on here that seem to post just to get drama started tho. They are very easy to spot.

If you look at someones post history, you can certainly see indicators of someone posting solely to promote (or defame) a specific doctor. When you are self pay, all you have to go on is word of mouth, and a few raving reviews can boost anyones confidence- if a doctor has only rave reviews and a few negative ones, I'd take that as a bad sign. If a doctor has some great reviews but people are critical about some of the same things, it's a good sign. I had a great experience with Dr. Kelly, but was unhappy with some of the care at the hospital he used. Also, keep in mind coordinators want your business- it is best to consider that when making your choice and getting their feedback.

I did a lot of research when I made my choice. I looked up my surgeon on ever bariatric website I could find, I confirmed his cridentials, I contacted people that had posted good and bad about my surgeon, I asked for references (of course they were only good references from the coordinators) but in the end, I felt I had made a good choice. I think WLS and VSG in particular is a very cut throat business in MX, and I would not doubt that some companies have created fake profiles just to drum up business, that's why I think we all owe it to ourselves to do our do diligence and independently research and verify everything about our surgeons.

All of that being said, my surgeon was THE BEST, and all of you thinking about weight loss should only consider him...j/k ;P

Seriously though, take in the good and the bad, and if you read about someone having a bad experience, or contact one of their patients that tells you negative things, talk it out with the coordinator, get their take on it. I read 2 really bad reviews about bad experiences at the hospital I was going to about a week before I went, I discussed it with my coordinator and got the other side of the story. In the end, only you can calm your own nerves, so ask all the questions, don't be afraid, and don't ever think you have to just be quiet and go along with any experience or information that makes you uncomfortable!

Good luck and best wishes on the decisions you make, I love the sleeve!

I *WISH* we got $ for every piece of spam posted on here. I'd be swinging on my hammock on some remote island by now ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
