Fainting Spells and seeing spots

Recommended Posts

Hydration. I drank one 20 oz G2 a day for months after surgery. I think I have to start it back up. Also you could be hypoglycemic and that can cause the same issues.

That's exactly what I was thinking !

I've almost blacked out twice. Once in when I was taking a hot shower (about one week post op). And once today while I was standing in the kitchen for a while making the infamous baked ricotta. It's pretty scary: tunnel vision, black spots, loud buzzing in ears, my limbs start to give out. I assume I am just dehydrated. I know I don't drink enough liquids. I sit down and in a couple minutes it goes away.

November 7, 2012 I ended up in hospital after doing a face plant and stopped breathing (woke up with leg cramps, bent over then passed out). Ambulance ride to ER and overnight stay later.. Diagnosis....dehydration AND low potassium. I had been taking Potassium twice a day for a year, post surgery. Apparently not absorbing it enough, I am now on liquid potassium daily and NEVER drink less than 96 oz of Water, generally with crystal light, lemon or plain. All is going well.

Please listen to your body, and if you have any doubts reach out to your doctor. I am so happy with my sleeve overall, hope you are too!

Take care.

YES!! This ha been happening to me a lot latley! So happy to read this thread and know I'm not alone! I almost passed out the other night at an exercise class. I had the whole black spots, everything got foggy and I couldn't hear out of one ear. I've also had a lot of dizziness and even when laying down last night I felt extremely dizzy until I fell asleep. I think I'm going to make an appointment to have myself checked out but if I get another bad spell I'm heading to the hospital. Very scary!

I agree with the blood pressure thing. Happens to me a lot when I stand up too fast.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
