Girl Scout Cookie Time! ARRGHH!

Recommended Posts

I knew this day was coming.

My daughter sells the Cookies. She's been a scout for 10 years now. I've always taken them to work, to sell to coworkers. In prior years, I could easily put away a whole box of Cookies in one sitting.

Now that I'm sleeved, I think I'll be able to refrain ... but it's going to be hard. Especially when I see my coworkers chomping down on THIN MINTS....

Lord give me strength!

I'm in the same boat! I have 2 daughters in Girl Scouts, I am selling them at work, but I'm not touching them for myself!

Good Luck and stay strong.

PS - Samoa's are my kryptonite!

I used to reason with myself.... "Half the box of Samoas is air anyway, they don't pack 'em in like they do with Thin Mints, so it's OK eating a whole box of Samoas at one sitting".

This is our first year not selling. I am not usually a "gotta have it" gs cookie person but each year I would want one and then sit and eat half of a box, or more and then not touch them the rest of the year. Now that i am sleeved, i get stomach flu like symptoms from sugar (i tried a cookie on christmas eve).

I will not be buying any Cookies, but i will be donating to them when i see them at the stores.

Last year while selling cookies in front of the grocery store, people would hand me $4 and say "give a free box to the next person". I plan on doing that also. I love playing pay it forward :)

nikiw714, our troop also will send boxes of Cookies to the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan if you tell them to. Just buy a box and say "give it to the troops". We ship a whole pallet over there each year.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
