I hated them too until I finally made one I like. One scoop chocolate protein powder, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 cup skim milk, and 1 tsp peanut butter. Mix in a blender. Tastes sooooo good. I

  • Also works with ricotta. And bodybuilders use "sludge" as a boost: 1 scoop protein, 1-2 Tbs. Peanut Butter, and a tiny bit of Water to mix - it makes sludge. Chill it and eat it with a spoon. Sound

I'm in the same situation! The protein powder not only makes me gag but also makes my baby sized stomach hurt like none other! I just was started on full liquids yesterday at 7 days post op and really don't tolerate much "food" -cream of wheat, yogurt, etc. Hoping it gets better and if you find a solution please let me know!!

I like EAS and Atkins Chocolate. I put them in freezer until milkshake like... Love em! But I can not drink them straight out of fridge. Either milkshake like or over ice!

I have the same problem! I hate the gritty texture if not blended, the foamy texture if blended, the thickness of it, the taste of it period! I would rather starve. :(

I also drink the EAS and Atkins, but I drink them straight.

Some people do not tolerate whey protein very well. You may check with your doc and see if it's okay to try soy protein or hemp protein....there are many others but you want a fast absorbing protein. Whey is just about the fastest but those others are better than no protein at all. Whatever you do, do not start taking the protein shots....they are of no nutritional value.

I'm still preop so I don't have personal experience on the subject. However, in the support group this week, they discussed this topic. The suggestion was if using water, use warm water to mix and then refrigerate overnight to chill.

I can't stand them either. Muscle milk seems to go down easy for me so I stick with that. Have you tried putting unflavored protein in puddings or jello? That was a tolerable way for me to get it in as well.

Muscle milk and Muscle milk light is the only one i can handle.

Thanks y'all I had gotten Protein Bars because the had 30 grams of Protein but was told not to have them because of the carbs. :( I want protein In me but just can't take the chances of vomiting.

Ps.

I have the same reaction with anything sweet

I tried and tried, but i just do not like whey protein. The taste is just so nasty to me. So I switched to soy protein. Not ideal, but at least I like the taste of it. I drink herbalife shakes - I mix the chocolate flavor with milk, and it tastes like chocolate milk.

What is getting me through right now is Unjury unflavored protein and a glass of oj and a banana with like 3 pieces of ice! Blend really well. Also I use a straw to drink it, because I can smell the protein a little if I dont and that turns me off to it!

Maybe try the Syntrax Nectars? They're fruity flavors and not the super sweet chocolate/vanilla that most other shakes come in. They also mix thin and many are honestly very good with Water, though mixing with half water/half juice or with crystal light is an option, too. There are several sites online that sell samples of them (I used vitalady) and you can try a number of flavors without shelling out for numerous tubs of Protein powder.

Also try mixing with warm tea, warm coffee, soy milk, almond milk - anything you can think of that will work with your flavor of shake.

It's hard to find a good Protein but it's really worth the effort, especially in the first six months post op.

Good luck,

~Cheri
