had my psych eval today

Recommended Posts

Had my psych eval today. I'm a therapist so I expected all the questions and testing. I'm getting more excited and less nervous with each thing checked off the pre-op list.

I see the nut on friday. Then I go in for labs, chest xray, and mri the following week. On Feb 1st I do my endoscopy. After that it's just a matter of getting all squared away with the insurance (which I already know they'll approve me -it's just not formal yet). Then a surgery date.

I've waited years to be as ready as I am now. :)

It's a good feeling when you start knocking out the appointments. I have one more dietician, sleep study, and surgeon appointment left. I do cardiology tomorrow, too. But, I can't wait for the day that surgery is scheduled. I too will be waiting for the insurance. The surgeons office says to not worry, but I can't help it. Good luck to you!

Just curious, why the MRI?

It's just one of this docs standard pro-op things. Can never be too careful I guess.

But MRI of what?? I'm an X-ray and Ultrasound tech so I'm curious as to what you'd have an MRI of before gastric surgery. I've never even heard of that before now.

Honestly, I don't know. He just checked it off on my sheet of things. It may end up that I don't have to do it.

Oh ok. It just seems weird to me. Well good luck with everything else! I'm just waiting on my last physician visit next month then everything goes to insurance. So excited!

Ok, you got me thinking. I reviewed my paperwork. It's an ekg not an mri.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
