Hey guys. I got sleeved 1/9/13. Wondering if there are any support groups in the DFW area?

I would love to know as well. I know of one that meets in Keller pretty regularly? What part of DFW are you in?

Lots of people here go to the group at Baylor in Plano. I haven't been personally as I live in Fort Worth, but the people I know say it is an incredible group. There is a also a group of us who meet in the north Dallas area the first Saturday of each month for lunch. If you do a search, you will find several DFW / Dallas / Fort Worth threads.

I'm south of Fort Worth and just heard about a group that meets once a month in Mansfield.

Where is the group in Mansfield?? That wouldn't be terrible as I'm there quite a bit!

I'll ask my friend. I'm pretty sure it's held at a church (though it isn't sponsored by the church).

I'll let you know!

Does anyone have any more specific info about the DFW groups? Plano is pretty far out of my way, so I am unlikely to attend. Mid Cities, Las Colinas, and Oak Lawn areas are where I gravitate towards regularly and would love to find something a little closer to one of those areas.

There is a monthly support group in Grapevine. First Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at the Bessie Mitchell house. It is operated by the Baylor Weight Loss Surgery center but everyone is welcome. There is always a NUT at the meeting.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
