Plastics on 1/8/13... Recovery is hard!

Recommended Posts

First I will say that I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize here, so no regrets so far! But this recovery is hell!! I had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift w/silicone implant, and mini-arm lift. Surgery went well, the dr said he removed 7 lbs of skin & fat w/ Lipo, yay! However, the first couple days I was unable to keep down any of my meds?! I'm guessing just sensitivity from the anesthesia in addition to not eating a whole lot. But now that I can keep pain meds down, things are a bit more manageable... And thank God for my wonderful husband! I need help getting in and out of bed, he had to remove my catheter, he empties my jP drain /records it, makes sure I'm taking my meds & that I'm doing the breathing exercises (with the incentive spirometer), and is taking care of our two toddler by himself! All the while he didn't even want me to have this surgery because he said I was fine the way I was (but that's a different topic, for a different day). I cherish him! Whatever you do, don't go into this alone! There is just no way you can do it alone! I will post pics once I'm healed up some, I have to keep this tight binder on for right now.

I'm considering plastics later on this year. Did insurance assist because of the bariatric surgery?

I had TT/Lipo and Breast lift with implants on 11/12/12. Your right it is a tough recovery. I am glad my doc kept me in the hospital for a week. I am 2 months out and still healing. It is gonna be worth it in the end though!

No, I was self-pay for my VSG as well, I actually went to Mexico for that. There just wasn't a big enough cost difference between Mexico and my surgeon here, plus all of the immediate follow-up care required for this procedure.

Thanks for posting. I am looking at getting a Tummy Tuck and a breast lift and maybe a little reduction too in the end still if I need one. (never been lacking in that department)

Your tummy looks awesome. I can't wait for mine.

My doctor is in northern Virginia. You can look him up on his website bjcohen.com.He is awesome! I'd rather not share my exact cost, but I believe he is reasonable! You will get a free consultation, plus he came in 2K less than a doctor I saw in Fredericksburg, va and that's with more work and silicone and not saline implants! His staff and him have been wonderful! Can't wait for my follow-up with him! :) not even close to healed and I'm thrilled with my results!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
