Advice for struggling during the holidays

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 12/5 and I must say, here recently, I have not been eating healthy & definitely over-eating. My first two weeks I lost 20 pounds and my second two weeks (during Christmas and New Years) I only lost 4 pounds. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in myself and I'm really looking for some encouragement. Has anyone else fallen off the path before and then gotten back on? Today is Sunday and I've started eating healthy again today and will be staying this way. I'm just really nervous that I've messed this up. I saw the doctor on Friday and he says there is nothing to worry about. Just immediately change my habits back to the way they were. See, one of my major problems is, I am on the go ALL THE TIME and I am extremely social which means one thing... I EAT OUT ALL THE TIME! I know, I know... Not good! I'm only one month out and my stack tolerates anything. I almost wish food would make me sick. The other thing is, I am hungry about every two hours. Is that normal? I eat a good meal and two hours later, my stomach is burning and growling with hunger. Someone please send some encouraging ideas my way. I don't want to be skinny, I want to be healthy and make this a lifestyle change! :-(

Hi Lisa, I was extremely honest with my doctor. I have eaten so much that it's ridiculous. For example, for New Years Day, I'd eat until I got sick, go throw up and then eat again. Even doing all of that my doctor said he didn't feel like I stretched my stomach. However, he did warn me that if I didn't change these "habits" now, I will indeed stretch my stomach and start putting weight back on over a period of time. I am actually making a grocery list right now and I refuse to just "graze" all day. Now, with that being said, my doctor did say that it is normal to be hungry every 2-3 hours. The keys is to sip on Water all day and it helps keep you full longer. Also, healthy Snacks are good. For example, fruit, yogurt, string cheese, peanuts, pistachios, ex. Please keep in touch and let me know how this coming week goes for you. I am going to try really hard to make actual meals and be consistent this week.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
