Full? Or keep eating?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a hard time determining when I'm full?

The feeling that something is stuck? Does that mean I've over eaten?

Of course, throwing up and hiccups.. I get that..

But I'm not catching on easy to when enough is enough???

For me, I eat 2 ounces at a time. Once I finish the 2 ounces I wait for a few minutes. If I get a tiny burp I know Im one more bite away from the hiccups and I never ever go past the hiccups. I have not thrown up once and only felt discomfort once in the beginning (Ive been sleeved for 3 weeks). I had 3 ounces of cream Soup and it was uncomfortable so I decided to do 2 ounces every 2 or 3 hours.

I am two months out and have learned from the board that everyone is different in this respect. I also have a hard time gauging when I am full, but it is because I sometimes eat too fast. The best thing to do is like bunny said; figure out a set amount, eat it slowly and then wait about 10 or 15 minutes. If you are full, you should feel it by then. I know that I will eat four-six ounces and then 10 or 15 minutes I feel a definite full feeling. Good luck finding your full!

Slow and deliberate is the key. Visualize your meal before you start. Keep your mind on what you are doing: small portions, time between small bites. Think about how you feel after a few bites and give the feeling time to set in. You will learn to stop before the slimes and discomfort. This tool will work for you but don't expect big pain with it. That comes when we eat way too fast and too much.

Gone are the days when we eat with mind disengaged. Talk to your tablemates but return to your main task quickly.

I'm still having issues gauging "full". My kitchen scale has been the best tool other than my little Sleeven Colbert.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
