Hi I'm Jan. 10th!

I can't believe it's actually 2 weeks away. My surgeon didn't require me to do a 2 week liquid diet. I was required to lose 10% of excess weight. I still need to lose 4 lbs by the 2nd to reach that goal. So tomorrow I'm going to start 2 Protein drink and sensible dinner/ per day.

I've tasted a few Protein powders and found that I like Syntrax Nectars. They mix really easy with a spoon and don't have an after taste.

Trying to get my family ready ( I refuse to cook until I get to purée stage at least lol)

So far not nervous , just really excited. We have a family trip to Hawaii in July and for the first time in years I'm actually looking forward to hanging out by a pool. If I have a 50 lb weight loss by then I will be happy.

How is everyone else getting prepared ?

Saw my surgeon today,so excited... Received the preop packet, I asked the doctor if I needed to bring a heating pad, pillow etc. he said no, that they will supply everything I need.... Does anyone have any suggestions of what I may need so I can ask for it.

Awesome! What is it like drinking? Does it feel different to you? Can you only drink a little at a time?

It feels weird drinking, I can only handle a little at a time... But the gas moving around really really hurts.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
