1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 cups?

Recommended Posts

I was told 1/4 cup for months 0-3, 1/2 cup for months 3-6, 3/4 cup for 6-9 and 1 cup, I believe from 9+ on. I'll be 3 months in 2 days and I would say I'm in between 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup.

Interesting, my nut basically said 1/3 a cup until goal. I basically still eat about 3-4 oz per mini meal and this equals a little bit more than 1/3 a cup. It keeps me satisfied to eat this way 4 times a day with shakes 2 x a day. I sometimes have some hunger here and there, but it may just be he'd hunger or something I can control with Water or distracting myself with something else. I need to be careful not to let boredom lead to eating as i had a big problem with that most of my adult life. I haven't done any eating out of boredom yet post sleeve, but sometimes I feel it is lurking...

I'm almost 3 months out, and it depends on what I'm eating. I go by ounces, I can eat between 4 and 6. 4oz if it's meat(depends on if it's chicken, fish, or shrimp), Denser meat like chicken or turkey is more like 2-3 oz. 6 oz if it's yogurt or Soup. Vegetables fall somewhere in-between, depending on the amount of Protein I have there too. I never go over 6 oz for fear of vomiting, I haven't vomited at all, only a bit of nausea very early on. I want to avoid it at all costs. I use a tea saucer to eat my meals on too. I put the saucer on the scale, tare out the weight of the plate, then put my food on. 1/4 cup is 2oz and 4oz is 1/2 cup and 3/4 cup is 6oz.

Really interesting! Are the 2 shakes in addition to the 4 meals or included as 2 of those meals?

I know that most people are instructed to eat Snacks and what not - My surgeon was adamant about 3 meals only so those 1/4 cups (well now, somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 cup) have been just the times a day. It works out to about 500 calories per day most of the time. Sometimes I replace one of those meals with a Protein Shake (Usually if I'm in a hurry!)

The 2 shakes are in addition to 4 mini meals every day. Keep in mind that I had to work up to 6 meals a day by month 4. I ate less month 1-3.

Okay. I'll be 3 months out on Tuesday. I'm feeling confused as to what I should be taking in. Especiallys icne I just joined a really rigorous exercise program and not sure if I need to increase Protein, etc. because of that. I currently do 3 meals - either 1/4 cup of Protein or a protein shake as a replacement meal but no Snacks or additional Protein Drinks.

What were you consuming around month 3?

Month 3 I believe was 2 meals of 2-3 ounces and 1 shake in the morning. I was still between 300-500 calories a day back then. Most of my exercise was through walking, but I did occasionally do elliptical.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
