Prochlorperazine & Visual distriburance

Recommended Posts

Prochlorperazine is the antinausea that I was given to take after surgery. Oh my goodness! I will never take this medication again. My vision is starting to return to normal, but as I took it my vision was so off!! My glasses would not help me, I could not see my iphone to operate it or text, i wasnt able to watch the tv either. It was a bummer to feel crumby from surgery and then have to lose my vision. It was determined by the pharmcy that this is a possible side affect. blah!! beware.. Hopefully this wont happen to you!

Best,

Sannah

Hi Sannah,

How long after you took the med did you experience the vision loss? And how after you took the med did you begin to notice the vision problem.

Glad you're better! wow....

Same exact thing happened to me. I was sleeved on Nov 12 and was extremely nauseous. I was on multiple nausea meds, including the patch. I never turned the tv on or used my iPhone in the hospital so I never noticed the vision loss... Then I got home and about day 6 I attempted a text and panicked because the phone was a total blur. My surgeon said to remove the patch and it will go back to normal. I removed the patch, it left a scab! It was a very potent little tiny patch. About 2 -3 days after, it was back to normal. Phew!!

Hello,

I was in this med four 24 hours a day and a half later my vision is nearing normal. I can see pretty good to type this message. Previously I couldn't use my iPhone or pad at all. I also couldn't see myself in the mirror. My spects are starting to help again!! Feels good to see again!!!

Have you had surgery yet?

Best,

Sannah

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
